Resilience Plan
We can help in case of an emergency

The Lonach Hall is proud to serve as a hub for the Strathdon community, which is situated in a rural location where power cuts are common and often extending to several days. Thanks to a £17,720 grant from SSEN’s Resilient Communities Fund in 2022, we installed a backup generator that allows the hall to be fully powered during outages. This upgrade has turned the hall into a community resilience hub, ready to support local residents whenever the lights go out.
In the event of a power outage in the area of Strathdon (Roughpark - Buchaam) exceeding 24 hours, the LHCA committee members will open the Lonach Hall between 2-4pm each day until the restoration of the power in the area (times may differ, please check with us).
During outages, the Lonach Hall can provide a place to stay warm, charge phones and devices, and make hot drinks and meals.

We want to remind everyone in the local area that The Lonach Hall is your community hub in times of need. If there’s a power cut, please remember that our doors are open. Pop in to warm up, meet neighbours, or simply recharge, both your phone and yourself. The support from SSEN’s grant has made this possible, and we’re proud to continue using it to keep our community safe, connected, and cared for. We are also continuing to improve the hub by increasing internet speed, providing games for children and improving charging stations.
To stay informed about The Lonach Hall and our evolving resilience plan, you can join our mailing list by emailing enquiries@lonach-hall.com or become part of our WhatsApp Community, an announcement-only space where we share updates and important information. Stay connected so you’ll always know when the hall is open and ready to help.
